Eriocaulon cinereum, one of among 400 species of Eriocaulon, is native to the rice paddies of southeast Asia where it grows emersed on very wet soils.

Although it is relatively common in eastern Asia, E. cinereum is still a rarely imported species in the United States.

400여종의 Eriocaulon중, 하나인 소곡정은 매우 습한 토양에서 자라고, 동남아시아의 논에서 많이 발견된다.

소곡정은 동부아시아에서는 흔하지만, 미국에서는 아직 드물다.

 

This small pipewort requires a fertile substrate to thrive, as it draws most of its nutrients from its extensive root system.

In fact, the root system of this species can be up to three times longer than the leaves.

The rest of its requirements are typical for most moderately difficult plants: lighting should be intense, CO2 is a necessity, and a typical water column fertilization regimen (including nitrate, phosphate, potassium, and micronutrients) should be in place.

When CO2 levels are good, the center of E. cinereum will develop a golden hue.

This relatively small aquarium plant grows slowly even when conditions are to its liking, maxing out at a height of three inches.

이 좀개수염(소곡정)은 광범위한 근계(根系)로 대부분의 영양분을 끌어 오기 때문에, 번식하기 위해서는 비옥한 토지를 필요로 한다.

사실, 이종의 근계(根系)는 잎보다 3배 이상까지 길게 자랄 수 있다.

소곡정이 자라는데 필요한 요소들은 일반적으로 대부분의 어려운 식물과같다: 높은 광량, 이산화탄소는 필수이다. 그리고 비옥한 토지(질산, 인산, 칼륨, 및 미량 영양소 포함)도 요구한다.

이산화탄소가 충분할 경우, 소곡정의 중양부분은 황금색으로 자랄 것이다.

이렇게 비교적 작은 수초는 조건이 좋을 때 조차 느리게 자란다. 높이가 최대 3인치 정도이다.

Once a month, E. cinereum can be uprooted for propagation.

To propagate, take a sharp blade or pair of scissors and create an incision at the point where the plants meet.

Then, tease apart into two separate plants.

E. cinereum, due to its small stature, is an excellent alternative plant for the foreground.

한달에 한번, 소곡정을 분촉할 수 있다.

번식시키기 위해서 가위나 날카로운 칼을 가지고 식물이 만나는 지점을 나눈다.

그러면, 식물이 두분으로 나뉜다.

소곡정은 크기가 작아서 전경으로 쓰기에 훌륭하다.
