This plant was discovered by aquarists in Thailand, close to the border with Burma. It is called 'Downoi' (little star) in Thailand, and it is easy to see why (5-10 cm tall and wide). Pogostemon helferi is an unusual and distinctive aquatic plant with a compact habit, curly leaves, and a strikingly beautiful green color. With good light conditions and a substrate rich in nutrients Pogostemon helferi forms many side shoots, which develop small roots, and the plant rapidly forms an impressive carpet of foreground vegetation.)

이 식물은 한 아쿠아리스트에 의해서 미얀마와 국경 근처인 태국에서 발견되었다. 태국에서는 'Downoi' (작은 별)이라고 부르며, 직접 보면 왜 그렇게 부르는지 쉽게 알 수 있다(크기와 폭 5-10 cm). 포고스테몬 헬페리는 흔치 않은 독특한 식물이다. 조밀하며, 곱슬곱슬한 모양과 한 눈에 들어오는 아름 다운 녹색 잎을 가지고 있다. 풍부한 빛과 바닥의 영양조건에서 포고스테몬 헬페리는 옆면으로 많은 새싹을 형성하고, 작은 뿌리가 발달한다. 그리고 빠른 속도로 인상적인 카페트로 전경을 만든다.
