Hygrophila polysperma from South-East Asia is one of the hardiest aquarium plants available. Stems become 25-40 cm and 4-8 cm wide. It is particularly good for beginners because it grows in almost all conditions. It normally grows so fast that it is important to prevent it from crowding out other plants. The shoots must be pinched out regularly. Leaves lying on the surface form small new plants. Hygrophila polysperma varies considerably in leaf shape and color, depending to some extent on the light supplied.

동남 아시아에서 온 하이그로필라 폴리스페르마는 가장 강한 수초 중에 하나이다. 줄기는 높이 25-40cm 이며 폭은 4-8 cm이다. 대부분의 모든 환경에서 잘 적응하기 때문에 입문용 수초로 좋다. 이 수초는 정말 빨리 자라기 때문에 근처에 다른 수초를 심는 것은 피하는 것이 좋다. 새싹은 주기적으로 솎아줘야 한다. 표면에 누워있는 잎들은 새로 번식한다. 하이그로필라 폴리스페르마의 잎의 모양과 색은 광량에 따라 달라진다.
