This plant originates from South America and stems become 25-60 cm long with 10 cm long leaves. Underwater Hygrophila costata has relatively narrow leaves which are grouped close together. Plants sold in the shops are normally cultivated above water, and have rounder leaves with larger gaps between them.

이 수초는 남아메리카에서 왔으며, 줄기는 25-60 cm 이고 잎의 크기는 10 cm이다. 수중에서 하이그로필라 코스타타는 비교적 서로 근처에서 하나의 군을 이루며 좁은 잎을 가진다. 일반적으로 수족관에서 파는 수초는 물상엽으로 재배했다. 그래서 잎이 더 동그랗고 잎들 사이의 간격이 더 크다.
